Who is required to have a Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM) certification?
Florida Statutes Chapter 509.039 requires that public food service establishments have at least one Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM) on duty at all times if they employ four or more people handling food storage, preparation, display, or service. Managers must also obtain CPFM certification.
Which establishments require a CPFM?
Any establishment that prepares or serves unpackaged food—such as restaurants, grocery stores, delis, food trucks, and refreshment stands—must have at least one owner, manager, or employee certified through an approved food manager program.
How do I receive my CPFM certification?
In order to receive your CPFM certification you must pass an CPFM exam accredited by your state regulatory authority. License2Serve only administers accredited exams. The exam is in person.
Does License2Serve provide on-site CPFM training?
No. Examinees are expected to have a strong understanding of the material prior to taking the exam.
What do I need to bring with me to the CPFM class/exam?
Your photo ID and a pencil are required.
What is the passing score for the CPFM exam?
Applicants must pass the exam with a 70% or higher.
How long does a manager have to become CPFM certified?
Upon employment, a manager has 30 days to pass the required examination and become a CPFM.
Do I have to be currently employed to take the CPFM exam?
No, anyone is welcome to take the CPFM exam, and there are no age restrictions.
What accredited CPFM certification does License2Serve administer?
Our preferred CPFM exam/certification is provided by License2Serve through the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals.
